My Sweet Escape to Bahrain.

I am privileged to be entrusted with more responsibilities at work so I didn’t think twice accepting accounting jobs regardless of the fact that number isn’t my strongest suit because I love to do new things and challenges.  As soon as I had heard the news, I thought I needed a break first.

Bahrain is an hour away from Saudi Arabia. I’ve always wanted to visit the country to experience a little luxury of freedom despite news about ongoing demonstrations. I've always wanted to wear neon colors, floral shirts and walk in shorts when I go to the mall which I'm hesitant to wear at public places in Saudi Arabia. Watch cinemas, indulge in a nice meal of pork dishes and dance to the latest hits of Lady Gaga, Nicki Minhaj and the like at disco bars and the most important of all, to visit a church.- These which I have planned to do within the span of 3 days of stay in the country

Bahrain is an archipelago of 33 islands, the largest being  Bahrain Island. The capital city is ManamaKnown for its oil and pearls, Bahrain is also home to many large structures, including the Bahrain World Trade Center and the Bahrain Fianancial Harbour and the Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix takes place at the Bahrain International Circuit.

It is connected to Saudi Arabia by the King Fahd Causeway which is one the longest bridges in the world.

At  my back is the Immigration at King Fahd Causeway.

A round trip fare to Bahrain through bus costs SR 100.00. Fee for the visa  will be collected at the Immigration office in the border. Amount varies depending on the length of period of stay availed. ( For expatriates working in Saudi Arabia, you may enter the Kingdom of Bahrain regardless of your profession on your Iqama or Residence Permit. Do not forget to secure a Re-entry Visa from your sponsor.)

***The Hotel Accommodation***

There are affordable hotels that meet budget traveller's needs. I stayed at Falcon Hotel which charges minimum of SR 150.00 for a single bed room. The hotel isn't in the city proper which was the only concern I had.

 Not bad right?

***My Adventure***

My outfit on the first day of tour.

Shopping! shopping and more shopping!!! At a mall was the very first activity I had on my mind followed by watching a a 3D movie then had a city tour by myself. Roaming around the city made it easier for me with the help of a taxi service from the hotel at a very reasonable price.

On the Second day.

Its a great relief to know that there is a place of worship for Roman Catholics in the gulf region. I made sure that a visit to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church was on top of my itinerary on that day as I wasn't aware that there is one when I arrived in the kingdom..

The Bahrain World Trade Center, also called BWTC is the first skyscraper in the world to integrate wind turbines into its design. It is the second tallest building in Bahrain after the Bahrain Financial Harbour twin towers.

The Bahrain Financial Harbour.

Ending the day with a nice salad for dinner at Pastarito.

Beso!
