Preview of Marni + H&M Spring 2012 Collection

The famous Swedish brand H&M (Hennes & Mauritz AB) is continuously making budget-conscious fashionistas around the world happy by collaborating with the big names in the fashion industry. After worldwide shopping frenzies caused by the Versace+H&M team up this season it has made another headline. They are doing a new collaboration with another major brand for their upcoming Spring/Summer 2012 collection-Marni!!! To all Marni fans out there, its distinct style is soon to be experienced.

Consuelo Castiliogni is the designer of the Italian brand. The Marni woman is definitely stylish, unique, quirky, feminine, sexy without the need to show some skin, fashion-forward and a risk-taker. Their clothes never fail to make wow statements: interesting colors, prints, unexpected use of materials and bold and over the top accessories.

I am an avid fan of their runway shows. With some photos of their shows for the past 2 seasons below, we’ll know what to expect.

Versace for H&M!

This season, H&M's guest designer is Versace! This is all what we've been waiting for to get a taste of the famous fashion house's designs!

The fringes, studs, geometric designs and prints which Versace is well known for are all present under one collection in this season's collaboration of H&M with the luxury brand. I have picked my favorite pieces from the collection and tried to combine them to create different looks.

Modelling for the ad campaign are my favorite models Sasha Pivovarova, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Daphnne Groeneveld, and Lindsay Wicson

Inspired by Versace's 2011-2012 fall/winter collection

This look is inspired from Versace's 2011 spring summer collection

The  resembles the 2011 spring/summer collection of Versace where fringes were showcased.

The geometric patterns and studs designed after Versace's 2011 and 2012 spring summer collection.

Now, don't wait too long! Go grab some items and flaunt them!

A Taste of Middle East's Art and Culture

I love the simplicity and sophistication of modern things from art, architecture to fashion but sometimes they lack spirit and vigor. While antiques or pieces that are distinct to a country’s culture and tradition bring joy and tell a story. Home interiors with modern furniture gives an urban feel but can be livelier to live in with antique pieces or souvenirs from your memorable trips abroad. A simple plain white shirt and a trouser is chic but can be more stylish and fun when the look is finished with vintage jewelries. With these in mind, I thought of checking around the city in search of anything interesting that reflects Middle East's art and culture.

I passed by antique and souvenir stores and shops selling carpets that come mostly from Afghanistan, Kashmir, Pakistan and the like.

Artisans' ingenuity, meticulousness and creativity are evident on these handmade carpets. The intricate designs took my breath away. Prices ranges from hundreds to whopping thousands of Riyals. Their texture is very fine and smooth.

Home decos, miniatures, jewelries and others also caught my attention.

Jewelries

These are made out of silver usually mixed with a high content of base metal.

These are how the jewelries of the Bedouin tribesmen throughout Middle East a long time ago look like.

Bringing home a souvenir at a very low price! love it!

Wind Chimes

While busy taking pictures of the jewelries and decorations the shop owner bragged about the sword which he has no idea I intentionally ignored them as I wasn't so interested. I showed my interest by responding unconsciously "Ooh  your swords are long and shiny!"

Speaking of sword, it symbolizes justice on their national flag.

I felt as if I went to a museum that day. I had so much fun!
