Fashion Trends for Men this 2012

Men today have greatly evolved in many aspects of their lives and fashion is just one of them. Needless to say, the word “metrosexual” reflects today’s new breed of heterosexual men who simply love to feel and look good.
This is being addressed by the top minds in the fashion industry as portrayed in their major fashion shows this Spring/Summer 2012. Here are some trends to watch out for this season.

Leather Jackets
A man on a motorcycle wearing a leather jacket projects an image of masculinity and toughness. So it is not a surprise to see designers injecting leather jackets into their men’s collection every season.

Shorts
Men have got to start shaving their legs because shorts are so in! Literally short shorts are evidently becoming shorter perhaps due to global warming. Above-the-knee trousers are ubiquitos in almost all Spring/Summer 2012 shows.

Color-blocks
Color-block, usually seen in women’s fashion, is now influencing men’s fashion. Thanks to the art of blockology, men can de-emphasize those areas in their body they don’t feel comfortable about and accentuate the parts they want to show off.

Prints

It wouldn’t be spring or summer without the floral prints. This season prints of all kinds are bolder than ever, from floral, Hawaiian, abstract to foulard prints are everywhere.

It used to be a fashion mishap when you mix a printed top with printed pants but now everything goes as long as the colors blend.

Metallics
A man in metallics is like your knight in shining armor. Men may have shunned wearing this long time ago but with today’s style evolution there is no doubt that you will see a lot of guys on the street strutting their fave metallic clothes. This look is definitely sexy, strong, fashion forward and elegant.

Checkered Shirts
I bet there is no guy who doesn’t have checkered shirt in their wardrobe. This season you will see checks in different sizes and some designers have managed to present their very own version like Iceberg and Bottega Venetta.

Sheer
Men have a fair share of sheerness this season. The sheer trend has been all around for many seasons on womenswear and I’ve always wished to see this trend on men and finally it’s granted. I love Dolce & Gabbana’s take on fish nets.

Skirts
Many of you might not buy the idea of skirts on men but why can’t they wear one?  Marc Jacobs who has been seen wearing a skirt has made it look cool. The Scottish kilt look has been modernized and given a twist.

Tank Tops
No doubt men love the tank top. Like women, they like to be sexy and love to flaunt those biceps. Tank tops are great for summer and it’s the easiest way to beat the scorching heat of the sun.

My Boss Greets Me "Whoa!!!"

I feel unfortunate for not being able to shop Versace's collection for H&M. I even went to Riyadh last November but it was too early. No single item from the collaboration for men ever got displayed on the shelves in one of H&M branches that has menswear in Dammam. Grrrr!

Last Wednesday, I thought of channeling one of the looks in Versace + H&M Fall/Winter collection by wearing this bold beautiful floral printed long-sleeve shirt to work which I bought many years ago at Landmark in Makati, Philippines. I havent worn this for such a long time as I am quite anxious of what people at work would react when they see me. As far as I've noticed, I haven't seen anyone in the kingdom wearing floral printed shirts.

I was one hour late that day. I woke up so late. I was walking stealthy to my desk hoping my boss wouldn't catch me when I realized that he was standing near at it which was already late for me to turn back and hide. I greeted him but got surprised with his reaction as he said whoa! as soon as he saw me with his eyes startled as if they've seen boobs. I would love to think that his reaction wasn't implying anything bad.

Some of my colleagues poked the fun at me. They said it looked like a table cloth and that maybe I'm lost and supposed to sing somewhere. None of those made me feel bad that day. I always feel good about what I wear. I know we cannot please everybody so I always give myself a positive thought.

This is the outfit I've worn without the straw hat and bag.

Be fun! Be colorful! Be fashionable!

I'm the kind of guy who loves colors and gives serious thought in combining bright colorful clothes together. I feel like my mood is brightened up by wearing colorful clothes.

Deviate from the old mantra of coordination. Gone are the days when the belt should match either your bag or shoes. Now, its more about individuality, having fun and making bold statement.

In this particular look, the blue is the dominant color . It is a perfect idea to use a red belt to stand out from the monotony of the top and bottom. The color of the bag still blends well with the whole ensemble and the multicolored shoes to add more spice.

You will see a lot of sky as my photo background these days as I am super in love with it. The colour is beautiful and it just brings out the colour of the clothes.
