Ethnic Takes The Fashion World

I love the simplicity and sophistication of modern art, architecture and fashion but sometimes they lack spirit and vigor. On the other hand, an antique or any piece that is distinct to a country’s culture and tradition tells a story. Modern home interiors that have an urban theme can be livelier and more inviting when filled with souvenirs from trips to other countries. A simple white shirt and trouser is chic but can be more stylish and fun when the look is finished with eclectic jewelry. With this in mind, I went looking around for ethnic or tribal pieces that can spice up your wardrobe.
Ethnic or tribal looks have been influential on the runway in the past few seasons. For example, D&G’s Fall/Winter 2010 menswear collection was infused with Western Native American designs. Versace also had a fare share of this look but kept it modern in their Spring/Summer 2011 womenswear collection. Gianfranco Ferrer’s modern twist on an Indian-inspired Spring/Summer 2011 collection. However, my favorite show this season was Burberry’s channeling of the African vibe in their 2012 menswear collection.
